Tour overview

Trekking the three high passes begins at Lukla (2828 meters/9278 feet) and follows up the Dudh Koshi valley to Namche, the capital of the Sherpas. Namche is a thriving market that serves as a hub for trekkers, local Sherpas, and the route taken by the expedition to reach the summit of Mount Everest. This section of the path is home to welcoming Sherpa people, gorgeous towns with an abundance of cultures and customs, vibrant festivals, and monasteries.

You will reach high elevations on the Everest High Three Pass trek, which passes over the Renjo La Pass (5360 meters), Cho-La Pass (5420 meters), Kongma-La Pass (5535 meters), Mt. Gokyo Ri (5,360 meters), Mt. Kalapathar (5,545 meters), and Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters). The trip offers breathtaking panoramic vistas and exceptionally breathtaking scenery. Because of the high elevations, being physically fit is crucial. It would be best if you prepared a bit before starting this hike. Four majestic peaks rising to a height of above 8,000 meters are present here: Mount Cho Oyu (8,201 meters), Mount Makalu (8,463 meters), Mount Lhotse (8,516 meters), and Mount Everest (8,848 meters). On our trek, we see the remote Nangpa La Valley and the Sherpa settlements of Thame and Marlung.

The Everest region offers a wealth of opportunities to explore its many routes, take in its natural wonders, and enrich cultural experiences. Gokyo Valley Trek is an alternative to the Everest High Passes Trek. You may also sign up for the Everest Base Camp Trek or Gokyo Valley Trek if you’re short on time and want to avoid passes.

Information about Lukla flights

Information about Lukla flights
The trek schedule may vary slightly, especially in March, April, May, October, and November when trekking is at its busiest and the plane to Lukla leaves from Ramechhap/Manthali rather than Kathmandu because of traffic congestion. In this case, we have to leave Kathmandu at roughly 12:30 a.m. on the scheduled departure date to catch the flight from Ramechhap. Kathmandu to Ramechhap drive is approximately 4 -5 hrs.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival, our airport representative will greet you at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. He will drive you in a private car to the hotel. On that day, you will have a planned meeting at the hotel regarding your trip. We will introduce you to your guide/leader at this meeting. Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding the trip. Moreover, you will spend the night at a Kathmandu hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

You will take off over the snow-capped mountains on a clear, bright morning to reach Lukla, one of the most thrilling high-altitude airports, which is located at a height of 2900 meters. You will be accompanied on the trek by your guide and porter. And thus the trekking begins. You will descend over 500 meters to the Dudh Koshi River at the start of the trek. After that, the journey heads towards Phakding following the riverside walk. Arriving at Phakding, where you will spend the first night of your trek, you will pass several mani-walls and boulders etched with Buddhist prayers.

Day 03: Trek to Namche

The trail follows the northern trial all the way to Monjo via the Dudh Kosi Valley. The trek officially enters Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where a Sagarmatha National Park Permit Card is required. You will reach the center of Sherpa—Namche Bazaar—by following the trek along the hard ascent while relishing the first view of Everest.

Day 04: Hike to Khumjung and Acclimatization in Khumjung

After hiking to Khumjung village, we will spend the whole day there to acclimate to the altitude and surroundings. It is usually better to be active during the day rather than spend it sitting down. Additionally, you may go to the museum, monasteries, or the headquarters of the National Parks. You may spend your evenings exploring the market districts. We will also be staying in a Khumjung lodge this evening.

Day 05: Trek to Thame

You will trek up into Thame, a historic Sherpa settlement, today, following the ancient commercial routes of Tibet, Nepal, and India. You will visit Khare Gompa and stroll through the picturesque town of Thamo on a track that slopes gently. The path passes through stunning Gompa and Chortains, and it even passes by the home of two renowned climbers: Apa Sherpa, who has climbed Everest 21 times, and Tenzing Norkey, who was the first to summit the mountain alongside Sir Edmund Hillary. As you approach the hamlet, you will come across the oldest Gompa in the Khumbu valley, which is the place of the annual Mani Rimdhu festival.

Day 06: Trek to Lumde

Following breakfast, you will travel towards Marlung via the Bhote Koshi River, which will take you uphill. You're going to stop there for lunch. The trek offers views of several snow-capped summits, such as Teningbo (5893 m), Phuletate (5597 m), Khumbi Yul Lha (5761 m), and Mt. Kapsale (5583 m). Since the Khumbu valley communities end at Thame, you will seldom ever see Sherpa dwellings. You may see yak caravans making their way from Tibet to Lumde, where you will spend the night.

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo (4,790 m) via Renjo-la Pass

You have to use greater technical skills today since you are crossing a major part of the Renjo-la Pass. For an hour, the path is easy and smooth; after that, you'll need to use extreme caution to ascend Renjo-la Pass. Your arduous deed will grant you the opportunity to witness the breathtaking vistas of Gyachung Kang, Makalu, Tengi Ragi Tau, Rolwaling Range, and the Everest Himalayan range. You will spend the night in Gokyo, where your first fascinating pass concludes.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Ri

Before trekking to Cho La Pass, today is the day to properly acclimate. It does not, however, imply only sipping coffee and reading books at a teahouse. You can hike to Gokyo Ri today, which is a great place to see breathtaking views of Everest and its nearest neighbor, the fourth and fifth lakes, which provide challenging views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu.

Day 09: Trek to Thangna

The trek will be somewhat short. To get to the summit on the opposite side of Gokyo Valley, you must hike across the Ngazumpa Glacier. Then, you'll enter Thagnak by strolling along the mountain's ridge. The trek is more adventurous than difficult. It is best to begin the walk before the sun gets too strong.

Day 10: Cross Cho La pass and Trek to Dzongla

You will be crossing another thrilling Chola pass today, so it will be a lengthy and rather tough day of trekking. This pass is a technically challenging trek due to the steep glacier part on the east. The day's hike is challenging due to the slick qualities of ice-covered rocks. You will start the hike by walking through a steep valley and up to the top of the pass, which is identified by prayer flags and chortens that are in motion. From the summit, the sharp Ama Dablam, Cholatse soars Lobuche East, and Baruntse provide breathtaking views. After passing through a few fissures, we reach Dzongla Village.

Day 11: Trek to Gorakshep, hike to Kalapatthar (Altitude: Kalapatthar: 5550 m/18315 ft. Gorakshep: 5140 m/16960 ft. Trek: 6/7 hrs. Meal: BLD)

The walk today should take no more than six hours. Prior to ascending to the highland seasonal hamlet Gorakshep, you will climb up to Lobuche and then stroll along the ridge over Khumbu Glacier. On the same day, you will climb up to Kalapattar, 5545 meters, to the highest point for the breathtaking up-close view of Everest. The trail is paved with rocks. The vista of Kalapatthar at sunset is breathtaking. At Gorekshep's local lodge, you will spend the night.

Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp, trek back to Lobuche (Altitude: EBC: 5357m/17678 ft. Lobuche: 4910 m/16203 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

You will begin your breathtaking trek toward Everest Base Camp as soon as the weather permits. The most breathtaking accomplishment of a lifetime awaits you as you cross the glacier and arrive at Everest Base Camp, which is located 5357 meters above sea level and just beneath the glistening Khumbu Icefall. Retrace your route back to Lobuche after exploring and taking in the breathtaking height.

Day 13: Trek to Chhukung via Kongma la Pass (5,535m)

The highest pass on this journey is just around the corner and is sure to provide you with plenty of exciting and thrilling moments. Soon after breakfast, you will begin to hike eastward, following the Khumbu glacier. You should bring a water bottle and some food because the walk is lengthy and lacks tea shops and water supplies. The greatest views of Mt. Kongma Tse (5820 m), Mt. Pokalde (5806 m), Mt. Makalu (8463 m), Mt. Lhotse Shar (8383 m), Mt. Makalu (7220 m), and Mt. Ama Dablam are available from the trek. After walking up to the peak of Kongma-la, which is adorned with cairns and a Buddhist flag, you will descend in the direction of Chukkung, where you will spend the night.

Day 14: Trek from Chhukung to Dingboche

You will continue on to the monastery land Tengboche after crossing high passes and taking in the beauty of Imja Valley. You'll take a little stroll to tour Khumbu's biggest monastery, where the Everest Expedition crews get blessings. During the months of October and November, this place hosts the fervently celebrated "The Manirimdhu," which is the most fascinating festival. You may take amazing pictures of Mt. Ama Dablam and the surroundings from this location. Stay the night at the lodge.

Day 15: Trek to Namche

It will be a steep descent that follows the river, over a bridge, and enjoys a road lined with forests of birch and rhododendron. A few Himalayan giants, such as Everest, Kwangde, Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kantega, and Thamserkhu, will also continue to attract your attention. A pleasant overnight at Namche awaits you.

Day 16: Trek to Lukla

The journey is coming to an end today. To get to Lukla, you will walk alongside the Dudh Koshi River. The Porters, Sherpas, and Guides will be joining you for the celebration. They will enjoy a celebration while learning some traditional Sherpa dancing moves from the local drink, "CHANG."

Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu

To return to Kathmandu, you will board a plane. After being driven to your accommodation upon arrival in Kathmandu, the remainder of the day is yours to relax. Spend the night in the hotel.

Day 18: Spare day

With a spare day in Kathmandu, you may spend it exploring the city further and buying gifts/souvenirs in the Thamel neighborhood
