Tour overview

Starting from the Lauribina La Pass, the Sherpa Helambu area descends to the Melamchi Valley. Helambu is a popular destination for Buddhist pilgrims and is well-known for its beautiful Buddhist temples and tasty apples. Starting from Sundarijal Village, the journey ascends to a maximum height of 3600 meters from an altitude of 800 meters. The trek is less popular and is usually warmer than other short treks. Before returning to Kathmandu, the journey passes through the Sherpa settlements of Sundarijal, Chisapani, Kutumsang, Thadepati, Tarkeghyang, Kakani, and Melamchi.

Fantastic vistas of the Himalayas, lovely mountain rivers, snow-capped peaks, pure alpine lakes, lush farmland where Yak graze, vibrant wildflowers, bamboo and rhododendron woods, and a variety of native creatures including monkeys, meerkats, and Yak can all be observed on the Helambu Trek. This peaceful and soothing method of experiencing the true essence of Nepal. The chance to encounter the genuine kindness, distinctive Buddhist culture, and charming grins of the Sherpa people is one of the trek’s most satisfying experiences.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu transfer to hotel.

Upon your arrival, our airport representative will greet you at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. He will drive you in a private car to the hotel. On that day, you will have a planned meeting at the hotel regarding your trip. We will introduce you to your guide/leader at this meeting. Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding the trip. Moreover, you will spend the night at a Kathmandu hotel.

Day 2 : Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani

It will take us around one hour to get to Sundarijal. We first reach the Shivapuri Wildlife Protected Area as we start our four to five-hour walk. The first three to four hours are rather taxing as we climb uphill, then we descend for the final hour or two to reach Chisapani, where we may relax while watching the sunset over the valley and mountains. Overnight at Chisapani.

Day 3 : Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang

Today's climb is primarily uphill and takes five to six hours. Many mountain ranges, including the Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and Dorjelakpa, are visible for the first time today. The route dips to Pati Bhanjyang at first, then climbs for almost two hours before dropping again to the Tamang settlement of Gulbhyang. We travel for another 1.5 hours before arriving at Kutumsang, where we spend the night.

Day 4 : Trek from Kutumsang to Thare Pati

Today's trek will take four or five hours and go to a height of 3800 meters. You can see both sides of Helambu and Gosainkunda from Thadepati, which offers some breathtaking vistas. The route winds through woods of rhododendrons, which are especially lovely in the springtime when they are fully blossomed. The national flower of Nepal is the rhododendron. Once you reach your location for the day, you may relax and enjoy the serene views of the mountains.

Day 5 : Trek from Thadepati to Tarkeghyang

We will be doing the trek for five or six hours today, starting with a descent to Melamchi Gaun Village. This is a Sherpa settlement, and chances are you'll stop for lunch and explore the area, devoting close attention to their monastery. After departing from this point, we go downhill, pass Melamchi Khola, and then ascend to Tarkeghyang, our overnight destination.

Day 6 : Trek from Tarkeghyang to Kakani

Today's trek is shorter and quickly comes to Sermathang Village, which is less physically taxing. After passing through a few wooded sections, the route leads to Sermathang, where we will pause for lunch. Following lunch, we make our way downwards to Kakani, where we will spend the night.

Day 7 : Trek from Kakani to Melamchi then drive back to Kathmandu

After a two-hour hike, we will arrive in Melamchi, from where we will take a four-hour ride back to Kathmandu. Once you reach Kathmandu, we will return you to your hotel.

Day 8 : Transfer to International Airport

The journey comes to an end when our airport representative drops you off at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu.
