Information about Lukla flights

The trek schedule may vary slightly, especially in March, April, May, October, and November when trekking is at its busiest and the plane to Lukla leaves from Ramechhap/Manthali rather than Kathmandu because of traffic congestion. In this case, we have to leave Kathmandu at roughly 1:00 a.m. on the scheduled departure date to catch the flight from Ramechhap. Kathmandu to Ramechhap drive is approximately 4 -5 hrs.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival, our airport representative will greet you at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. He will drive you in a private car to the hotel. On that day, you will have a planned meeting at the hotel regarding your trip. We will introduce you to your guide/leader at this meeting. Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding the trip. Moreover, you will spend the night at a Kathmandu hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla, trek to Paiya (Chutok)

After arriving at the Tenzing-Hillary airport in Lukla early in the morning, and we start our trek to Paiya. After over a bridge over the Handi Khola and walking along a forest track, we arrive at Surke Village. From this point on, we head south across the Chutok La pass and arrive at the little town of Paiyan, which is also referred to as Chutok. Stay the night at Paiya.

Day 03: Paiya to Panggom

After a short ascent, we come to a little bridge. The route becomes slick from this point on till we cross the Kari La pass. We follow a short mountain track that winds through groves of bamboo and rhododendrons. We also get to marvel at the Dudhkoshi Valley on our tour today. We go on trekking to Panggom Village, where the people live off of farming and trade. Stay the night in Panggom.

Day 04: Panggom to Ningsow

After breakfast, we start our trip. We cross the Panggom La pass after leaving Panggom on walking. After that, we climb, follow a straight trail, and head north. We initially crossed Peseng Kharka Khola before arriving at Peeng Kharka Danda after a while of traveling. Before arriving at Ningsow Village, we cross the Ningsow Khola (stream). Spend the night at Ningsow.

Day 05: Ningsow to Chhatra Khola

We start our ascent from Ningsow, drop for a bit, and then continue climbing to reach Ramailo Danda. We have amazing views of Salpa and Mera Peak from this spot. We enter the Makalu Barun National Park after making several ascents and descents on our route. We use the Pasang Lhamu track to go from here to Chhatra Khola. If we're lucky, we might even spot the rare Red Panda along the way. Spend the night in Chhatra Khola.

Day 06: Chhatra Khola to Kothe

We take the main trail to Mera Peak, which heads north. We first follow a track that runs beside the Majang Khola before joining another trail that parallels the Hinku Khola. Straight ahead on our walk is Tashing Ongma, home to a number of quaint tea shops during the seasons. Before arriving at Kothe, we carry on with the trip and pass the Sanu Khola bridge. Spend the night at Kothe.

Day 07: Kothe to Thaknak

We trek under Mera Peak's shadow along the Hinku Khola's ridge. We have lunch in Gondishung, the west bank Hinku Drangka summer herders' village. Past Gondishung, we cross the 200-year-old Lungsumgba Gompa, which is home to the rock carving of Mera Peak and the path leading to Mera. We stroll a short distance to Thaknak, a summer grazing region with modest shops and rooms. Stay the night in Thaknak.

Day 08: Thaknak to Khare

After departing Thaknak, we head to Dig Kharka, which provides breathtaking views of the Charpate Himal, by following the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier. After passing over moraines, the route ascends rapidly to reach the tips of the Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers. We will have an incredible experience seeing Mera Peak's northern face from here. We can take a trek around Khare after lunch. Spend the night at Khare.

Day 09: Khare: Acclimatization and pre - climb training

We have dedicated another day to acclimatization and basic training to properly prepare for the climb of Mera Peak. Our climbing guide will assist us in sharpening our fundamental climbing skills and show us how to use different climbing equipment, such as the ice axe, harness, ascender climbing boots, and crampons. Learning the most effective rope-climbing and descending method will also be a part of the program. Spend the night at Khare.

Day 10: Khare to Mera High Camp

To get to Mera Peak Base Camp, we trek a rocky path through a boulder-filled course. From here, we go on to the Mera High Camp by passing across the Mera La pass. There are several crevasses along this rocky terrain, which makes climbing difficult if it has just snowed. We go up to the top of the rock band, where a big cairn indicates our position. Then, while taking in breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, the south face of Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang, and Baruntse, put up a high camp. Staying the night at Mera High Camp.

Day 11: Summit Mera Peak, trek to Kongma Dingma

For breakfast, we get up at approximately two in the morning. The temperature will drop dramatically at first, but it will warm up as we ascend the glacier and reach a peculiar ridge. As the sun rose, the tall peaks were illuminated in a stunning crimson radiance. As we gradually ascend higher into the ever-thinner air, the course remains non-technical. Behind the crest, the slope steepens for a while, then the summit reappears. Depending on the weather, we could cling to a fixed rope at the base of the last steep summit cone. The summit is only a few meters away. The magnificent Himalayas, which include Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7,129m), and others, are breathtaking to see from the summit of the mountain. We then turn around and head back to the high camp, where we have a short break before making our way down to Kongma Dingma. Spend the night in Kongma Dingma

Day 12: Kongma Dingma: rest day

In Kongma Dingma today, we get some much-needed rest.

Day 13: Contingency

We cannot guarantee that the weather on the day we have scheduled for the summit will be favorable. As a result, this day has been reserved as a backup in the unlikely event that inclement weather or any other unforeseen circumstance prevents us from climbing the Mera on day 11.

Day 14: Kongma Dingma to Seto Pokhari

We ascend towards the top yak pastures in this amazing, secluded valley. Throughout the morning, the massive Chamlang flanks rule our left, and the peak of Baruntse appears in the distance. The terrain is quite gentle, especially as we are traveling right into the heart of the world's tallest mountain range. The bottom of the valley stays wide and straight, barely ascending sporadically to meet the blind alley of peaks beyond. The fact that we are directly headed towards two of the world's most spectacular mountains—Everest and Lhotse—almost amazes us. At Seto Pokhari, spend the night in camp.

Day 15: Seto Pokhari to Amphu Labcha Base Camp (South)

Since this is one of the most isolated regions of the Himalayas, trekkers are rarely seen along the way—unless it's during a particularly busy travel season. We go from Seto Pokhari and pass by a number of lakes that are located in the upper Hunku Basin. Our trek ends by the spectacular Hunku Glacier after passing Hunku Pokhari. We keep on, passing another lake near our route. Spend the night in Amphu Labcha Base Camp.

Day 16: Amphu Labcha Base Camp to Chhukung

We stroll over the Amphu Labcha Glacier after crossing the 5,845-meter-high Amphu Labcha La Pass. Imja and Lhotse Shar glaciers are close by. Before heading onto the main Island Peak trek, our route also does a half-circle around the Imja Tsho Lake. Going forward, before we get to Chhukung, we are also close to the Ama Dablam Glacier. Spend the night at Chhukung.

Day 17 : Trek to Island Peak base camp (5,200m/17,060ft) Duration: 4-5 hours.

There's a steep, sloping slope that leads to Island Peak base camp. The hike today heads south along the high track before turning east toward the valley. You will next go on an easy streamside track, following the moraine that extends southward from Lhotse Glacier. The base camp is located at Island Peak and is reached by a large valley that reaches southwest from the zigzag path that runs between the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines. Savor the glaciers that Imja and Lhotse carved out, and snap a picture of Imja Tse and the Imja Peak's southwest face.

Day 18 : Island Peak base Camp to Summit Island Peak summit (6,189m/20,305ft), back to Chhukung Duration: 10-12 hours.

Island Peak doesn't need technical knowledge, but it does demand physical strength and endurance. However, it does require basic knowledge and how to avoid mishaps. We have to get to the peak before lunch since the afternoons may be very windy. From the bottom of the camp, the path climbs hundreds of meters before meeting a steep slope on a sandy trail that eventually turns to grass and crosses stones. Eventually, the road gets narrower and leads into a steep rock valley or small rock channel. After taking several steps over and across the valley, we eventually came out on the other side. For safety purposes, your guide could tie a rope to every climber to help them ascend the last steep incline to the summit. The rope can easily go up to 350 meters, depending on the time of year and the danger of crevasses. Ladders are required as some of these crevasses might be two to three meters wide. After reaching the peak, it's time to grab your camera, snap the breathtaking vistas, and catch your breath. After there, we'll descend to Chhukung and celebrate our achievement there with your guides.

Day 19 : Trek from Chukhung to Kongoma-la 5,535m and to Lobuche (4,928m) Duration 7-9 hours.

Before the sun rises, we set out on an ice route to get beneath Kongma-La Pass and its Kongma Peak, also called Mehra Peak, before continuing on a gravel trail. Next, at 5,535 meters, we traverse Kongma-La Pass, which is tucked between the peaks of Mihara, Pokalde, and Mount Nuptse Wall. Following a demanding ascent towards the Khumbu Glacier and moraine (rocky terrain), we follow a somewhat steep path up to the glacier's foot to reach Lobuche, where we spend the night in a cozy lodge.

Day 20 : Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5170m) & Everest Base Camp (5364m) & return to Gorakshep Duration: 6-7 hours.

We depart from Gorakshep and traverse the Khumbu Glacier moraine on our trip today. We come upon a sign directing us to the Italian Pyramid, a scientific research center, while hiking along the route. A short distance higher on the route, we catch a sight of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, and Mt. Nuptse, along with the summit of Everest's north ridge. We ascend quickly to ThangmaRiju, where we are rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree vista of snow-capped mountains. After a challenging ascent and traversal of the Changri Glacier, we finally get sight of Kala Patthar, a rocky outcrop situated under Mount Pumori. We are rewarded with a beautiful view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, including Mount Everest, once we arrive in Gorakshep.

Day 21 : Hike up to Kala Patthar (5545 m/18,192 ft) and trek to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft) Duration: 6-7 hours.

This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of this whole trek. Most of the morning is spent climbing Kala Patthar, a small peak at 5,555 m. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama – Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8,848 m, towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the giants such as Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. Explore and experience the extreme elevation and retrace your path back to Lobuche. Spend overnight at lodge.

Day 22 : Trek to Lobuche High Camp (5,600m/18,368 ft) Duration: 3-4 hours.

We leave Lobuche and travel to Lobuche High Camp after breakfast. It takes four hours or so to climb. Situated at 5,600 meters (18,368 feet) above sea level lies the High Camp. To get to High Camp, we walk from Base Camp across a rocky moraine. Upon arriving to High Camp, we set up our camp for the night, have lunch, and relax. You'll adjust to this high altitude more quickly if you move about instead of sitting still.

Day 23 : Summit day Lobuche Peak (6119m/20,070 ft) Summit & back to Thukla Duration: 7-10 hours.

This is the day we were looking forward to. To get to the top, we have an early start to the day. More stunning views of the mountains could be seen from Lobuche East than from other elevations, such as Island Peak. As you reach the top of Lobuche, you may enjoy breathtaking, expansive, and thrilling views of many neighboring peaks as well as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and Pumori. We take some pictures and rest at the top before making our way back down to Thukla.

Day 24 : Trek from Thukla to Namche Bazzar (3,440 m/11,280 ft) Duration: 6-7 hours.

The route first crosses the prayer-flag-adorned Dudh Koshi River bridge, then descends sharply through pine trees as it winds into the Dudh Koshi Gorge. Eventually, the route comes to Sansa, the main trail intersection in the area. Then, with every step we take, we may enjoy the raging grandeur of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse. Following a lunch break, the path winds around numerous curves and follows the slope until it reaches Namche Bazaar and Kyangjuma. While traveling through the forest, we should be alert for wildlife, such colorful pheasants, snow leopards, and mountain goats. Once we pass a Chorten (a Buddhist shrine), we arrive to Namche Bazaar's army camp

Day 25: Namche Bazaar to Lukla

Today we set out on a difficult walk to Namche Bazaar. The hike largely follows a path that runs by the Dudh Koshi River and slopes downward. Before arriving at Lukla, we walk through several settlements and suspension bridges. We spend the remainder of the day relaxing after arriving in Lukla because this is our final day in the Himalayas. Spend the night at Lukla.

Day 26: Fly back to Kathmandu

Typically, flights to Kathmandu are booked in the morning for security reasons. We have the remainder of the day off to do as we choose after arriving in the capital city. We could relax in our hotel room or go shopping to get our loved ones mementos. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 27: Final departure

Three hours before of time, a representative would drive us to Tribhuwan International Airport.
