The Tiji festival which is also known as the Tenchi festival is a popular festival for the people of Upper Mustang citizens that celebrate the myth of a son who had to save the Mustang kingdom from destruction. Mustang Tiji Festival Trek 18 days is one of the unique treks that should be pre-planned early that mainly focuses on the Tiji Festival which has a long history. The remarkable festival at Upper Mustang is an amazing reflection of the vibrant and inspiring Buddhist culture of the local region.

As the name suggests, Mustang Tiji Festival Trek is a fascinating trip to Nepal’s Mustang region with the Tiji festival celebration that allows you to wander around the beautiful landscapes of Upper Mustang and be a part of the Tiji Festival, which is one of the most awe-inspiring festivals celebrated in the region. People in mustang celebrate the Tiji festival in Chheode Gumba where you get to witness people chant prayers and monks perform unique mask dances. The picturesque landscapes, yak caravans, wild mountains, and dry and arid terrain makes the Upper Mustang region of Nepal a scenic place to visit. This 18 days trek offers an unforgettable experience in the primitive Tibetan village while exposing you to historic Buddhist culture and art.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu | Altitude: 1400m.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted and welcomed by a representative from our agency in front of the Arrival gate with an Alpha AdventureTreks display board, and then transferred to your hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | Meal : BLD

During your free day in Kathmandu, you may have the opportunity to visit a heritage site in the Kathmandu valley, followed by a pre-trip departure meeting where you will meet the trek guide and other team members to discuss the upcoming hiking peak climbing. They will provide you with an overview of the team, equipment, and nature of peak climbing, as well as other pertinent information.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara | Altitude: 823m | Drive: 7-8 Hrs | Meal: BLD

This is the scenic route from Kathmandu to Pokhara, which passes through various beautiful villages, woods, rivers, and mountain landscapes. Finally, arrive in the afternoon at Pokhara.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom and trek to Kegbeni | Altitude: 2858m. | Trek: 3-4 Hrs | Meal: BLD

Early in the morning, get ready for the jet ride to Jomsom across the magnificent Himalayan beauty of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. You'll meet up with other staff members there and organize all of your belongings before trekking to Kagbeni.

Day 05: Trek to Chele | Altitude: 3050m | Trek: 5-6 Hrs | Meal : BLD

After completing all formalities in Kagbeni, the trail continues along the east bank of the Kali Gandaki River. There are various ridge climbs to choose from. We stroll through beautiful mountain landscapes on the sand and windy trails. Many ups and downs bring you through small settlements with narrow paths among white-painted buildings; agricultural areas and eventually crossing the Kali Gandaki River to reach Chele.

Day 06: Trek to Geling | Altitude: 3570m. | Trek: 5-6 Hrs | Meal: BLD

The trail gradually ascends over barren territory and spectacular mountain scenery to a pass, after which it descends along the ridge, passing through some shortens. Then it's on to Samar village, where the spectacular Annapurna and Nilgiri beauty awaits. The trail enters a gorge, passes a brook, and leads to another valley. Then it climbs to a hill (3,800 m) and descends to Gelling via ridges.

Day 07: Trek to Charang | Altitude: 3520m. | Trek: 4-5 Hrs | Meal:BLD

Start the journey after breakfast; the trail travels to the Nyi – La pass and then falls through the valley and crosses a stream before heading to another pass at 3,600 meters and a long descent to Charang.

Day 08: Trek to Lo-Manthang | Altitude: 3,840 m. | Trek: 5-6 Hrs | Meal: BLD

As on earlier days, the road descends a little and over a bridge before ascending sharply on a rocky trail to reach the Lo region, which King Ame Pal created as a kingdom in the 1380s, with the walled city of Lomanthang as the capital and the people of these territories known as Lobas. Finally, a short descent and a stream crossing are followed by a climb up to the Lomanthang plateau.

Day 12: Trek to Ghami | Altitude: 3520m. | Trek: 6-7 Hrs | Meal: BLD

The trek's climax has been reached, with a descent back via various villages and historic monasteries, as well as a final look of Lomangthang, and a trip down to Ghami.

Day 13: Trek to Samar | Altitude: 3660m. | Trek: 6-7 Hrs | Meal: BLD

This is the same path we travel to Lomangthang, skirting Nyi-La and descending to Samar through stunning Annapurna range views.

The trek continues to return via the same route taken before

Day 15: Trek to Muktinath | Altitude: 3750m. | Trek: 6-7 Hrs | Meal: BLD

The trek departs from the previously traveled path and ascends to Gyu La. (4077 meters). The Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges can be seen from the top of Gyu La. The trail descends to the town of Chyanggur and then gently descends to Muktinath. Muktinath is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage destinations, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

Day 16: Trek to Jomsom | Altitude: 2700m. | Trek: 5-6 Hrs | Meal: BLD

Today is the last day of the trek to Jomsom, which also includes an easy stroll along the Kali Gandaki River's bank. Because it is the administrative center of the Mustang district, Jomsom is a busy place. In Jomsom's eco-cultural museum, you can learn about old Thakli traditions, culture, flora, and fauna.

Day 17: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu | Altitude: 1400m. | Meal: B

You will be transferred to the airport for a flight to Kathmandu, with spectacular mountain views. When you arrive in Kathmandu, you will have the entire day to yourself.

3 hours prior to your scheduled flight back to your home country, you will be transferred to the airport.
